Legal Fees (Par. 5) The attorney must inform the client in the fee agreement whether and under what conditions rates are subject to change. Also, the attorney should add any standard or minimum time or dollar charges for specific functions-for example, β€œ.x” hours for a telephone call or letter. Failure to disclose such practices probably misleads the client when the agreement states that fees are charged by the actual time by the hour and some fraction of an hour. Some firms either do not charge for travel time or charge at reduced rates. The attorney should discuss this with the client.
