The Lactation Support clause establishes the employer's obligation to provide accommodations for employees who are breastfeeding. Typically, this involves offering a private, hygienic space (other than a bathroom) and reasonable break times for expressing breast milk during work hours. By including this clause, the agreement ensures compliance with applicable laws and supports the health and well-being of nursing employees, addressing the practical need for workplace flexibility and privacy for lactating mothers.
LACTATION SUPPORT. 1. Where spaces exist for faculty or staff for the primary purpose of expressing breast milk, Academic Researchers shall have access to those spaces for the purpose of expressing and storing breast milk. 2. If no such space exists in reasonable proximity to an Academic Researcher’s work location, the department will designate an appropriate temporary space, which is not open to the general public, for the purpose of expressing and storing breast milk. 3. The University will allow adequate time for an Academic Researcher to express breast milk.
LACTATION SUPPORT. The University supports parents employed by the CSU by providing lactation and nursing support. A lactation and nursing parent support program allows a lactating parent to express breast milk periodically during the workday or nurse an infant child. This policy is in accordance with the Official Code of Georgia, Federal Labor Standards Act, as well as USG, ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ State University, local, State and Federal regulations. The breast-feeding of an infant child is an important and basic act of nurture, which should be encouraged in the interests of parent and child health. A parent may nurse their infant child in any location where the parent and infant child are otherwise authorized to be (O.C.G.A. § 31-1- 9).
LACTATION SUPPORT. A. The Employer and UPAMM support Employees who continue breastfeeding upon return to work. Where spaces exist for faculty or staff for the primary purpose of expressing breast milk, Employees will have access to those spaces for the purpose of expressing breast milk. A list and map of such spaces will be maintained on the Work/Life Resource Center website. If no such space exists within a reasonable walking distance to the Employee’s assigned work site, the department for the Employee’s worksite will make a reasonable effort to designate an appropriate temporary space for the purpose of expressing breast milk. A reasonable walking distance is generally considered to be approximately five (5) minutes. B. Any Employee who requires use of lactation support services provided by the Employer will communicate their anticipated needs to their supervisor. All efforts will be made to provide reasonable break time for the Employee to express breast milk for one year after a child’s birth each time such Employee has need to express the milk in accordance to guidance provided on the Work/Life Resource Center website. The average length of such breaks is expected to be 30 to 40 minutes, including travel time. Units will provide refrigeration to the best of their ability.

Those spaces will be a locked private space that are sanitary and equipped with a table, comfortable chair and electrical outlet. 2. If no such space exists in reasonable proximity to an ASE’s work location, the department/hiring unit will designate an appropriate temporary space, which is not open to the general public, for the purpose of expressing and storing breast milk. 3. The University will allow adequate time for an ASE to express breast milk, with the understanding that the ASE will not disrupt classroom activities for this purpose. 4. The University shall provide information regarding the availability of lactation support on a campus website no later than the conclusion of the Fall 2018 term.

A list and map of such spaces will be maintained on the Work/Life Resource Center website. If no such space exists within a reasonable walking distance to the Employee’s assigned work site, the department for the Employee’s worksite will make a reasonable effort to designate an appropriate temporary space for the purpose of expressing breast milk. It will not be expected that employees will work during this break. C. Where spaces exist for faculty or staff for the primary purpose of expressing breast milk, House Officers will have access to those spaces for the purpose of expressing breast milk. A list and map of such spaces will be maintained on the Work/Life Resource Center website. If no such space exists within a five (5) minute walking distance to the House Officer’s assigned work site, the Department for the House Officer’s assigned rotation will make a reasonable effort to designate an appropriate temporary space for the purpose of expressing breast milk. House Officers who have a need to express milk shall have convenient access to refrigeration so that breast milk may be stored. Requests for added locations where refrigeration is required will be brought to the Labor Management Committee. 157 Any House Officer that will require use of lactation support services provided by the Employer will communicate their anticipated needs to their Program Director. All efforts will be made to provide reasonable break time for the House Officer to express breast milk for their nursing child for one year after the child’s birth each time such Employee has need to express milk.

Employees shall have access to either existing space or the University shall provide temporary space within a reasonable proximity to ensure employees may express and store breast milk in a space not open to the public. b. Employees must request such access at the department level at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to needing the access. c. The University will allow adequate time for an employee to express breast milk.
