The Knowledge Translation clause outlines the obligations and processes for converting research findings or technical information into practical applications, such as policies, products, or practices. Typically, this clause specifies how results will be communicated to stakeholders, the formats for dissemination, and any responsibilities for training or outreach. Its core function is to ensure that valuable knowledge generated during a project is effectively shared and implemented, bridging the gap between research and real-world impact.
KNOWLEDGE TRANSLATION.
11.1 The Administering Organisation must participate in knowledge translation activities as requested by VicHealth that are directly related to the Project. This may include:
(a) presenting the Project findings at a VicHealth forum or other event;
(b) working with VicHealth to produce fact sheets, resources and other publications; and
(c) cooperating with the Partner Organisations for the purpose of clause 11.2.
11.2 The Post-Doctoral Researcher must participate in knowledge translation activities that VicHealth reasonably requires in writing. This may include:
(a) developing and carrying out a plan to disseminate the Project outcomes (Knowledge Translation Plan) which the VicHealth agrees to in writing;
(b) updating the knowledge translation plan throughout the course of the Project;
(c) presenting the Project findings at a VicHealth forum or other event at VicHealth's request; and
(d) working with VicHealth to produce fact sheets, resources and other publications.
11.3 If the parties cannot agree a Knowledge Translation Plan within one month of the Commencement Date, VicHealth may by written notice at any time subsequently require you to comply with a Knowledge Translation Plan that VicHealth provides to the Post-Doctoral Researcher.
KNOWLEDGE TRANSLATION. 5.1 The Administering Organisation must use its reasonable efforts to participate in knowledge translation activities with VicHealth that are directly related to the Project for which the Funding from VicHealth was provided. This may include:
(i) presenting the Research findings at a VicHealth forum or other event; and
(ii) working with VicHealth to produce fact sheets, resources and other publications, if applicable.
5.2 The Administering Organisation will provide VicHealth with 30 days prior notice of public release of publications and resources that are directly related to the Project. This includes promptly informing VicHealth if the Chief Investigator/s: • have an article accepted for publication in a peer reviewed journal; • produce a publication, report or resource; • are scheduled to present the research findings at a Conference ; • participate in policy development or provide advice to government; • are interviewed about the research; or • receive an award or another form of recognition for the research.
5.3 In relation to this clause 5, this information is to be emailed 30 day prior to public release to ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇@▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇.▇▇▇.▇▇▇.▇▇ and the VicHealth contract manager. VicHealth will decide at its discretion to support the production, dissemination and promotion of outcomes. This support may include publication support and costs, media support and advice, a venue to launch research products and promotion of the research outcomes through VicHealth networks, publications and on the VicHealth website.
KNOWLEDGE TRANSLATION. 6.3.1 Translate high level research into accessible information resources aimed at building the knowledge and understanding of different audiences and sectors.
6.3.2 Use health promotion expertise to respond to internal and external information requests.
6.3.3 Contribute to the organisation’s current awareness and environmental scanning by identifying emerging issues or trends including new research.
KNOWLEDGE TRANSLATION. Knowledge translation (KT) is getting the right information to the right people in the right format at the right time so they use it to make decisions and change their behaviours. It is an active process of synthesizing, disseminating, exchanging and applying knowledge to improve outcomes. It can include the development of knowledge products, knowledge dissemination (e.g. presenting a new resource at a conference) and knowledge implementation (e.g. establishing a practice change in a health care setting). Planning for KT will help clarify your project’s activities, outputs, outcomes and budget. If KT is an integral component of your project, then it should be embedded in your planning documents: work plan, budget and performance measurement tools. Make sure to clearly describe the target groups, both direct and indirect, and how they will be reached.
