Intersections. Caution should be used when excavating near intersections with traffic signal underground cable. Job Order Contractor shall notify the Engineer, in writing, 24 hours in advance of any Work at such intersections. The Job Order Contractor shall install and maintain temporary overhead traffic signal cable as specified by the Engineer when underground conduit is to be severed by excavations at intersections. The Job Order Contractor shall provide an off-duty, uniformed Avondale police officer to direct traffic while the traffic signal is turned off and the wiring is transferred. All damaged or modified traffic signal overhead and underground items shall be repaired and restored to the Engineer’s satisfaction. Magnetic detector loops shall, under no circumstances, be spliced.
