Interpretation and General Definitions. 2.1 “Academic Specialist Position (non-teaching academic staff member)” 2.1.1 means a non-teaching position requiring less than 50 timetabled teaching hours per year and significantly reflecting the criteria listed in Schedule D. 2.2 “Clinical Teaching” 2.2.1 means off-campus health science teaching involving patient care. 2.3 “Polytechnic” 2.3.1 has the same meaning as defined in the Education Act 1989 and includes any other organisation engaged in the delivery of teaching/learning programmes for which the CE fulfils the role of employer.
