Common use of Instructional Skill Clause in Contracts

Instructional Skill. The certificated classroom employee demonstrates, in his or her performance, a competent level of knowledge and skill in designing and conducting an instructional experience. Indicators: a. Establish objectives which are clear, specific and measurable. b. Establish objectives which are appropriately organized and structured in a logical sequence according to what precedes and what follows in the development of the subject. c. Maintain an appropriate balance of assignments and activities within the course of study. d. Make appropriate provisions for differences in student ability, interest, experience and cultural values. e. Encourage students to utilize a variety of reference materials and other school and community resources. f. Utilize materials and resources provided by the District for instruction. g. Select and provide supplementary teaching materials which are appropriate and well organized, as appropriate. h. Use evaluation techniques which encourage the students to establish and use standards and methods of evaluation for their own work. i. Use evaluation techniques which allow student to demonstrate achievement in a variety of ways. j. Use evaluation techniques which allow students to receive frequent feedback to make learning tasks more meaningful. k. Interpret student progress toward course objectives, utilizing student self-evaluation when appropriate.
