Common use of Independent Contractor; Control and Payment of Subordinates Clause in Contracts

Independent Contractor; Control and Payment of Subordinates. Consultant enters into this Agreement as an independent contractor and not as an employee of LAFCO. Consultant shall have no power or authority by this Agreement to bind LAFCO in any respect. Nothing in this Agreement shall be construed to be inconsistent with this relationship or status. All employees, agents, contractors or subcontractors hired or retained by the Consultant are employees, agents, contractors or subcontractors of the Consultant and not of LAFCO. LAFCO shall not be obligated in any way to pay any wage claims or other claims made against Consultant by any such employees, agents, contractors or subcontractors, or any other person resulting from performance of this Agreement.
