How Accumulated. Subject to Clauses (b), (c) and (d) of this Gratuity Plan, an employee shall be credited with 8 hours for each complete quarter of every calendar year worked by the employee and not more than 32 hours for each calendar year worked by the employee. An additional credit of 8 hours shall be given for each completed calendar year during which the employee was not on paid sick leave. An employee may accumulate a credit of not more than 960 hours under this Gratuity Plan.

An absence that commences in one four month segment and continues into the next segment shall, for the purposes of gratuity credits, be treated as an absence in the first segment only. No credits shall be given in a calendar year in which an employee is absent for six (6) or more days of Short Term Disability. No credits shall be given for a four (4) month segment where an employee is absent for the entire segment on Medium Term or Long Term Disability.

How Accumulated. Each contracted employee will accumulate a total of fifteen (15) days of sick leave per year at the rate of one and one-fourth (1 1/4) days per month of service. Such sick leave shall be accumulated in an amount not to exceed 245 days. A newly contracted staff member will be credited with his/her advancement of five (5) days of sick leave at the beginning of the school year, but these days shall be part of the fifteen (15) accumulated during the school year at the rate of one and one-fourth (1 1/4) days per month of service. Employees on sick leave shall receive their regular daily rate of pay.
