High School Teacher. One-fifth (1/5) of basic compensation prorated to reflect portion of year or semester worked.
High School Teacher. 1. In the high school, a teacher's assignment, full- time or part-time, is determined by the number of sections that he/she teaches per day. For example, in the English Department, five classes equal a full-time assignment; in the Mathematics Department, five classes equal a full-time assignment; and in the Physical Education area, six classes equal a full- time assignment.
2. A part-time classification in the high school is determined by the number of sections that a teacher teaches. For example, in the English Department, a teacher teaching three classes per day would be teaching three-fifths time. In the Mathematics Department, a teacher teaching three classes per day would be teaching three-fifths time. In the Physical Education area, a teacher teaching four classes per day would be teaching two-thirds time.
3. Supervision A (homeroom and A.M. Supervision time), Supervision B (Study Hall and Special Assignment time) and Conference Planning Time (including before and after school time and that which is in the regular day) are determined in the high school by applying the applicable ratio to the amount of such time as is worked by a full- time high school teacher in the Department or area in question.
a. The Board reserves the right to modify the start and end times of the schedule. This provision shall have no impact on the employees’ contractual work day, which is 7 hours and 40 minutes (beginning at 7:50 a.m. and ending 3:30 p.m.), or the current instruction work day.
b. Supervision A (homeroom and A.M. Supervision time) shall be up to 40 minutes per week for all teachers assigned such supervision.
c. Supervision B (study hall and special assignment time) shall be as follows: Math, ELL, World Language, Practical Arts, Visual & Performing Arts, Special Ed. 116 Science 144 Physical Education 116 Social Studies, English 58
High School Teacher. A High School Teacher is defined as a teacher who has their entire teaching load in the High School. There will not be a reduction of force due to the modification of school schedule and classification of teachers. The following describes the schedule of a High School teacher on all days except those with a modified schedule:
a. A High School Teacher may be assigned a homeroom or a duty during homeroom.
b. Five (5) regularly assigned classes per A/B Cycle
c. One daily duty-free lunch period for a minimum of 30 minutes.
d. One preparation period per A/B Cycle when in the extended learning schedule. A preparation period shall be defined as administrative time.
e. One duty period per A/B Cycle when in the extended learning schedule [study hall, hallway, media center, class coverage, department leader, school store]. A teacher’s duty period will be rotated quarterly when possible. A duty period will be defined as supervisory.
f. One Opportunity Duty Period per A/B Cycle- A teacher will be assigned an Opportunity Period duty session to supervise once in the A/B Cycle that will last no more than 34 minutes. A two week adjustment period will take place at the start of every academic year and one week at the start of every subsequent marking period in which assignments can be adjusted based on need. After the adjustment periods end, the assignment for the opportunity supervision period will remain fixed in both assigned day and time for at least one marking period unless mutually agreed upon by the administration and the teacher. A teacher’s duty period will be rotated quarterly when possible. An opportunity period duty will be defined as supervisory.
g. One resource period per A/B Cycle when in the extended learning schedule. The resource period will be defined as administrative time. This period shall be used for, but not limited to: extra help, parent/student conferences, committee work, mentoring, 504 meetings and IEP meetings. The administration may assign each teacher non- instructional duties during one (1) resource period each week. Assignments could include, but not be limited to: IEP meetings, 504 meetings, parent/guardian meetings. Administration will not schedule department, grade level, or content team during the resource periods.
h. An effort shall be made to schedule common planning periods for those teachers teaching the same courses or courses taught with a team-teaching design.
