Common use of Grave Shift Clause in Contracts

Grave Shift. a) When an employee whose regular shift is grave receives a jury summons, he/she is to alert the appropriate administrator by providing a copy of the summons. b) Using the dates(s) provided on the summons, the administrator shall adjust the employee’s work schedule from grave to day shift. c) The work schedule shall be adjusted by weekly increments. Therefore, the entire workweek shall be adjusted to day shift even if jury duty is for a single day. d) The temporary adjustment shall have no impact on any pay differential. e) If an employee is selected as a juror, the work schedule shall continue to be adjusted on a weekly basis for the entire length of his/her duty as a juror. The employee is required to report each week to the administrator if an additional adjustment is necessary. The report is to be made by the Friday prior to any additional weekly adjustment.
