Freight forwarding contract. an agreement signed with the consignor or consignee of cargo on the arrange- ment of the transportation of the cargo from the place of departure to the place of destination according to the route. Under the freight forwarding contract, the freight forwarder may assume liability as the contractual carrier or only as an intermediary; in the latter case, no liability is assumed as a contractual carrier.
