Fire Trails. PURCHASER shall construct fire trails in accordance with the following instructions and as directed by STATE. PURCHASER shall notify STATE at least 5 days before beginning any fire trail construction. (a) Construct fire trails around the perimeter of the timber sale area and around stream buffers using methods and at locations designated by STATE. (b) Tractor fire trails shall be at least 8 feet wide, cleared down to mineral soil, and waterbarred, as directed by STATE. (c) Hand-constructed fire trails shall be cleared to mineral soil for a width of not less than 3 feet. Heavy accumulations of flammable debris shall be moved back from the trail, 10 feet or more on each side, as directed by STATE. Cup trenches and waterbars may be required on hand fire trails, as directed by STATE. Should STATE determine that fire trails are not needed, PURCHASER shall pay $8,100 to STATE. Should STATE determine that fire trails are not needed on any portion of the timber sale area, PURCHASER shall pay $.75 per foot for tractor trails not built and $1.25 per foot for hand trails not built.

(a) Construct 2,000 feet of fire trails with a cat and 1,500 feet of hand-constructed fire trails. Construct fire trails around the perimeter of the timber sale area and around stream buffers wildlife trees using methods and at locations designated by STATE.
(b) Tractor fire trails shall be at least 8 feet wide, cleared down to mineral soil, and waterbarred, as directed by STATE.
(c) Hand-constructed fire trails shall be cleared to mineral soil for a width of not less than 3 feet. Heavy accumulations of flammable debris shall be moved back from the trail, 10 feet or more on each side, as directed by STATE. Cup trenches and waterbars may be required on hand fire trails, as directed by STATE. Should STATE determine that fire trails are not needed, PURCHASER shall pay $8,100 3,750 to STATE. Should STATE determine that fire trails are not needed on any portion of the timber sale area, PURCHASER shall pay $.75 0.75 per foot for tractor trails not built and $1.25 1.50 per foot for hand trails not built.
