FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES Sample Clauses

FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES. Suitable Extinguishing Media Appropriate extinguishing media. This product is not combustible. Choose media depending on surrounding fire. All extinguishing medias are allowed. Specific Hazards Arising from the Chemical Expose to temperature above 160 C gives formation of toxic chloride gases Protective Equipment and Precaution Protective actions and / or special protective equipment depending on surrounding fire. Aqueous solutions may cause surfaces to be extremely slippery and cause a slip hazard.

FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES. Suitable Extinguishing Media: Not combustible, however, if material is involved in a fire use: Fine water spray, normal foam, dry agent (carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder). Specific hazards arising from the chemical: Not combustible, however following evaporation of the water component of the material, the residual material can burn if ignited. On burning will emit toxic fumes, including those of oxides of carbon, oxides of phosphorus, oxides of nitrogen. Special protective equipment and precautions for fire-fighters: Fire fighters to wear self-contained breathing apparatus and suitable protective clothing if risk of exposure to vapour or products of combustion. Equipment should be thoroughly decontaminated after use.
FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES. Suitable (and unsuitable) fire extinguishing media: Specific hazards arising from the product Special protective equipment and precautions for fire fighters Use dry chemical fire extinguisher. Do not use water or halogenated compounds, except that large amounts of water may be used to deluge small quantities of this product. Inhalation, skin or eye contact, can result in serious injury. This product is not combustible or flammable. However, this product reacts violently with water, and can release heat sufficient to ignite combustible materials. This product is not considered to be an explosion hazard, although reaction with water or other incompatible materials may rupture containers. When this product is wet, it can be very slippery and can result in a slip hazard. Hazardous Combustion Products: None. Wear full fire fighting turn out gear (full Bunker gear), and respiratory protection (SCBA) to prevent inhalation, skin or eye contact.
FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES i. The contractor shall provide and maintain adequate firefighting equipment and take adequate fire precaution measures for the safety of all personnel and temporary and permanent works and shall take action to prevent damage and destruction by fire of trees shrubs and grasses.
FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES. UN number Not regulated. Un proper shipping name; N/A Transport hazard class(es): N/A Packing group: N/A Environmental hazards: None. Transport in bulk: Annex II of MARPOL 73/78 and the IBC Code Special precautions: Ensure that persons transporting the product know what to do in the event of an accident or spillage.
FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES. Flammability Non flammable but acts as a strong oxidising agent and will vigorously accelerate fires. Protect from sources of heat, organic material and lubricants which may self ignite in combination with chlorine. Cylinders and manifolds should be located in areas with good natural ventilation or areas having adequate local ventilation. This product is an oxidising agent which may assist combustion of other materials. May evolve chlorine oxides and chlorine compounds when heated to decomposition. Fire and Explosion Temperatures in a fire may cause cylinders to rupture. Cool cylinders or containers exposed to fire by applying water from a protected location. Do not approach cylinders or containers suspected of being hot. Remove cool cylinders from the path of the fire. Evacuate area if unable to keep cylinders cool. Ensure work area is thoroughly ventilated before re-entry. Extinguishing Stop flow of gas if safe to do so, such as by slowly closing the cylinder valve. Await arrival of emergency services or manufacturer's advisor. Drench and cool cylinders with water spray from protected area at a safe distance. Hazchem Code 2XE
FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES. Flammability Combustible. May evolve toxic gases (carbon/ nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons) when heated to decomposition. May also evolve sulphur oxides and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons when heated to decomposition. When coal tar pitch is heated strongly it will give off dense clouds of hazardous fumes or vapours which can form flammable or explosive mixtures in air. Fire and Explosion Evacuate area and contact emergency services. Toxic gases may be evolved in a fire situation. Remain upwind and notify those downwind of hazard. Wear full protective equipment including Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) when combating fire. Use waterfog to cool intact containers and nearby storage areas. Extinguishing Dry agent, carbon dioxide or foam. Prevent contamination of drains or waterways. Hazchem Code 2Y

FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES. Flammability Non flammable. May evolve toxic gases (fluorides) when heated to decomposition. May also evolve aluminium oxide when heated to decomposition. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES. Flammability Non flammable. May evolve toxic gases (fluorides) when heated to decomposition. May evolve flammable hydrogen gas in contact with some metals. Extinguishing Prevent contamination of drains or waterways. Hazchem Code None Allocated
FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES. Flammability Non flammable. May evolve flammable hydrogen gas in contact with water, oxidising agents, acids or alkalis. Dust may form explosive mixtures with air. May explode in contact with oxidising agents. Fire and Explosion Evacuate area and contact emergency services. Toxic gases may be evolved in a fire situation. Remain upwind and notify those downwind of hazard. Wear full protective equipment including Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) when combating fire. Fires may re-ignite during extinguishing process. Finely divided dust may form explosive mixtures in air when exposed to heat or ignition source (DO NOT disturb burning dust). Extinguishing Dry agent, soda ash, sand or lime. Do not use water or foam. Withdraw from area and let fire burn out. Prevent contamination of drains or waterways. Hazchem Code 4W
