Extra Assignment Protocols a. The District shall provide Bargaining Unit Members with an explanation of the process used to allocate extra assignments, with such explanation occurring twice yearly at the Back to School and Annual Safety Refresher Course meetings. b. On a weekly basis the District shall update the Extra Assignment Log Book and provide the DTU President or designee with a copy of the updated Log Book charts. c. Field trips shall be assigned no further than one (1) week in advance. Such assignments shall occur on Thursday for the following Monday through Saturday. d. The Bargaining Unit Member shall be obligated to accept or decline the assignment within twenty-four (24) hours of said notice. The failure to respond to such notice within twenty-four (24) hours will be considered a denial of the assignment and the assignment will be offered to the next most senior person on the Extra Assignment Availability List, as described above. If the Bargaining Unit Member did not receive adequate notice of the assignment because the District did not provide advance notice as described in this paragraph, the affected Bargaining Unit Member will not be subject to discipline if he/she finds it necessary to hand-back the assignment.
