Collecting data from international students to determine which soft skills are needed for a workshop series. Working on event focusing on women in STEM careers. • Nikita: Pink shirt day promo video will be shared with you. Pink shirt day is on 2019- 02-27. Good response from students to idea of bringing a nail salon on campus. End of term shoreline cleanup will be planned. • Carina: Working on proposal to bring aerospace textbooks on campus. Had food truck come to campus; despite the weather the turnout was large. Will be working to bring further food opportunities and options on campus. • ▇▇▇▇: Clothing Drive is to be held on 2019-03-20; drop off for clothing will be the week before. Set Rep restructuring is coming along, should have a proper proposal in a month or so. Garbage bins around campus now have a tray attached to them for refundable containers to be placed in instead of thrown out. The refunds collected go into a fund for students; working on marketing for this. • ▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇.: First Sun Run training practise is this weekend. • ▇▇▇▇▇: Health Sciences Centre Committee met with architects two weeks ago to discuss informal learning spaces; will meet again next month. Student-led holistic wellness program working to determine student needs. Proposed mixer for health science students and faculty during orientation week. ▇▇▇: IxL conference registration is open, with 203 students and alumni currently registered. Registration will close at the end of the week; only 47 spots remain. • ▇▇▇▇▇: Looking at bringing ▇▇▇▇▇▇ on campus tentatively in April. Promotions will follow later when details confirmed. • ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇: Burnaby South By-Election debate was cancelled due to school closure. Had a voting station on campus on 2019-02-25; ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇ visited. Looking to operationalize these types of events to ensure continuity in future years. Meeting coming up soon to talk abut moving forward with BCIT on the new Student Centre building. • ▇▇▇▇: MechExpo for Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical, and Technology Teacher Education programs will move 4th year students’ projects into the Great Hall. Working on getting a covered walkway from SW9 to anywhere else on campus. • ▇▇▇▇▇: Trades students have mentioned lack of representation; looking at ways to help engage them in representation. • ▇▇▇▇▇▇: Facilitated mixer of students from different programs and years. Hoping to have more events at the Downtown Campus. • BC Open Campus runs an open educational resources program, the government does not.
