Eutrophication. The capacity for a lake to recover to its original state is not only dependent upon a sufficient reduction in the primary pressure, but also on the occurrence of secondary pressures that may confound the recovery process. An overview of all primary and secondary drivers and pressures reported in 364 peer-reviewed manuscripts was given in Table 2.
