Eligible Coursework. 14.3.1 Level 2 educational assistants hired into positions that require college degrees must submit an official transcript verifying completion of a degree program prior to beginning work. Level 2 educational assistant’s hired into positions that do not require college degrees are eligible for placement on or advancement to the BA educational unit if they hold a Bachelor’s Degree in education, psychology, liberal arts, communication, human relations, or an area that pertains to their current assignment. All college degrees must be from an approved institution as described in Article 14.4.1.1 in order to qualify for educational unit placement/advancement. 14.3.1.1 Credit for graduate or undergraduate course work shall apply on a one- for-one basis. For example, fifteen (15) graduate or undergraduate quarter credits shall equal fifteen (15) educational advancement units. If courses are taken under a semester credit system, the number of semester credits will be multiplied by 1.5 to equal the educational advancement units. 14.3.1.2 To be eligible for educational unit placement or educational unit advancement, all eligible course work must earn a C grade or better, Pass or Satisfactory. 14.3.2 Any appropriate, in-service/workshop course offered by the District shall apply as educational advancement units on a ten-to-one clock-hour basis. 14.3.3 Credit for in-service/workshop courses from organizations/institutions other than the District may also apply provided preapproval is obtained and completion verification is provided in accordance with Article 14.
Eligible Coursework. Eligible coursework must be taken from an accredited institution of higher education and meet the following criteria: A. must lead to an advanced degree in school administration or mental retardation; B. must lead to an advanced degree in an allied field in which the employee is currently employed with the CCBDD; and/or C. any course in the DD field which the employee has not previously taken in the field of current employment.
Eligible Coursework a. Undergraduate coursework, approved by the Superintendent or designee, through the current online process, may be taken and reimbursed provided the coursework is in the teacher’s discipline or would lead to additional certification endorsement and/or improve the teacher’s performance of duties. b. Graduate coursework, approved by the Superintendent or designee, through the current online process, may be taken in traditional and accelerated programs provided the coursework is in the teacher’s discipline or would lead to additional certification, certification endorsement, and/or would improve the teacher’s performance of duties. c. Remedial courses recommended by a teacher’s evaluator and approved by the Superintendent or designee through the current online process shall be eligible for reimbursement. d. Courses the Superintendent or designee deems to be of priority status shall be eligible for reimbursement.
Eligible Coursework. To qualify for column advancement, courses must be directly related to the employee’s current teaching assignment, a future assignment with the District, or an approved professional development area that benefits student learning. Hours used toward advancement from one column to another must be earned from an accredited college or university. Hours or credits earned must be classified as Graduate Hours. a. Courses must provide substantive new learning in pedagogy, instructional strategies, subject-matter expertise, special education, educational leadership, or technology integration in the classroom to be considered eligible. b. General education courses, personal enrichment courses or courses unrelated to education (i.e.: hobbies, general business, or unrelated sciences) will not be considered for salary advancement. c. Coursework that consists primarily of summarizing prior work, compiling past lesson plans, reflecting on past teaching experiences without incorporating new instructional methods, or other non-rigorous activities shall not qualify for salary advancement.
