ECH Clause Samples
The ECH (Early Contractual Handover) clause defines the terms under which a project or asset is handed over to the client before the full completion of all contractual obligations. Typically, this clause outlines the conditions that must be met for early handover, such as completion of critical works, safety certifications, or partial occupancy permits, and may specify any remaining obligations to be fulfilled post-handover. Its core practical function is to allow the client to take possession and begin using the asset sooner, which can be crucial for operational or financial reasons, while clearly allocating responsibility for outstanding work and associated risks.
ECH. Equivalent Credit Hours (ECH) are defined as a common base to which lecture, laboratory, clinicals, and practicums are related by a numerical factor assigned to each activity. A normal faculty assignment shall consist of 16.5 ECH per quarter (49.5 ECH per year for 177 day faculty or 66 ECH per year for 232 day faculty). The faculty ECH assignment may be averaged over the year. Laboratory assignments shall be calculated at 0.7
ECH. When in excess of 16.5 ECH, they may not be counted toward the 35 on-campus hours.
ECH. When in excess of 16.5 ECH, may not be counted toward the 35.
ECH. A faculty member who has requested ten (10) ECH may be assigned fewer hours based upon available load. No person outside of the bargaining unit shall receive load that a bargaining unit member has requested.
ECH. For Academic Skill Center tutorial assignments which generate faculty load equated contact hours, each weekly class hour shall equal .3333 equated contact hour for fall and spring terms and .5 for the summer term. Duties for tutorial assignments include study sessions, counseling, diagnosing student deficiencies, assisting tutors, inservice training to tutors, serving as a resource in the laboratory, class visitations, and monitoring, among other tasks, assigned by the supervisor. Equated contact hours for work experience/placement or internship courses will be awarded at the rate of one quarter [0.25] equated contact hour for each student. Where two or more class sections are taught concurrently by the same instructor, the load credit awarded shall be that which would be awarded for the section which would have the greatest load credit if taught separately. Where a class section is team taught by two or more instructors, the load credit for the class will be divided among the faculty teaching the class in a manner mutually agreeable to the affected faculty and the Vice President for Instruction and Student Services. Experimental, innovative courses or any other educational activities or duties may be assigned such load credit as is mutually agreeable to the involved faculty member(s) and the Vice President for Instruction and Student Services, provided that the Association shall be informed by the faculty member.
