E xtended Coverage. An employee on approved leave without pay shall be allowed to continue his/her health insurance coverage provided that the employee shall pay their share of the monthly premium during said leave. An employee not eligible for continued coverage may convert to individual health plan coverage (if available) or continue group coverage subject to the provisions of the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), plus any administrative fees, for the option selected. The entire cost of coverage shall be paid at the time and place specified by CaIPERS for health plans. An employee who terminates District employment is covered through the first day of the month following termination for CaIPERS plans. Employees who terminate District employment may continue Group Health plan coverage to the extent provided under the COBRA regulations.
