A cting Pay. An employee assigned by the Fire Chief or his/her designated representative to perform the duties of the next higher classification on an acting basis shall receive acting pay, which shall be computed at five percent (5%) more than such employee’s current pay step for all hours worked in such higher classification (not to exceed the maximum wage rate of the higher classification) provided the employee performs the duties of the higher classification for at least one (1) hour. Eligibility to receive acting pay shall be subject to the following:  The employee receiving acting pay must be qualified to perform the duties of the higher classification by being tested and certified by the District. S ECTION 6 - OVERTIME Overtime is authorized time worked outside the regular work schedule. Overtime shall be compensated for at the rate of one and one-half (1-½) times the employee’s hourly rate of pay. Overtime for permanent employees is earned and credited in minimum one-fourth (¼) hour (15- minute) increments.
