Duration and Eligibility Sample Clauses
The 'Duration and Eligibility' clause defines the time period during which an agreement is effective and specifies the criteria that parties must meet to participate or benefit from the agreement. Typically, this clause outlines the start and end dates of the contract, as well as any conditions or qualifications required for eligibility, such as age, residency, or compliance with certain standards. Its core function is to clearly establish who can be involved and for how long, thereby preventing misunderstandings and ensuring that only qualified parties are covered during the specified timeframe.
Duration and Eligibility. An employee is entitled to up to 12 workweeks of family and medical leave in the leave year that begins on the date leave is first taken, provided that:
a. the employee has at least 12 cumulative months of University service (all prior University service, including service with the Department of Energy Laboratories, shall be used to calculate the 12-month service requirement); and
b. the employee has actually worked at least 1,250 hours during the 12 months immediately preceding the commencement date of the leave.
c. In the event University policy and/or State or Federal law result in a different date of commencement for this twelve-month period, the commencement period for employees in this bargaining unit shall conform to the commencement date generally applicable to other University employees.
Duration and Eligibility. Master's level and doctoral students shall be eligible for appointments for the duration of their degree program. Graduate student employees must be matriculated students for each semester they hold the assistantship. The parties recognize appointments for an academic year or longer as generally in the mutual interest of the University and the GA. Hiring units are encouraged to offer full academic year appointments when practicable. Appointments in excess of one academic year may be offered at the university’s discretion.
