Common use of DRAFTSMAN Clause in Contracts

DRAFTSMAN. Three years of electrical substation and transmission line drafting experience preferred, but not required*, in the development of schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, general arrangement drawings, steel details and site plans, plan and profile drawings and hardware assemblies. Must be able to prepare finished drawings from preliminary designs, sketches, verbal instructions and other direct engineering information. Must be proficient in the use of various computer programs and in particular, CAD programs. Must have successfully completed (equivalent C or better) at least 30 credit hours** at an accredited college or university in a curriculum leading to an engineering or drafting technology, or equivalent degree. Courses must include mathematics at a trigonometry level or higher (1 course), CAD (two courses), drafting (1 course), and technical engineering (1 course). Course requirements waived with three (3) years of Ameren employee CAD Operator experience and proven expertise in drafting. The most senior candidate with the above skills and abilities will be awarded the position if filled. *Employees must successfully complete a six (6) month probationary period if they do not have the previously mentioned work experience. Employees who do not successfully complete the probationary period will be returned to their previous job. **If an employee has successfully completed the modules in the IBEW Local 51 Engineering Representative Training Program through Step 7, this will be accepted in lieu of the 30 credit hours and/or CAD Operator experience. However, the employees must complete the required courses in mathematics at a trigonometry level or higher (1 course), CAD (two courses), drafting (1 course), and technical engineering (1 course).
