Disability Support. 4.12.1 The Institute currently supports Educational Psychologists’ reports, and applications for the Disabled Student’s Allowance, through its Widening Participation funding. We also offer extensive on-course learning support, which has been effective in securing excellent retention levels for these students. We do not therefore intend to fund further work on disability support at this time, but will keep this matter under review.
Disability Support. If you have additional support needs, you are responsible for contacting the Student Life Department at MIUC. Any information you provide will be treated as strictly confidential. Any delays in disclosing your disability will result in a delay in providing any appropriate support. When you apply to MIUC, you must disclose any unspent criminal convictions. MIUC will consider whether such convictions are compatible with membership of MIUC and, in particular, with a place on your course. Failure to disclose any relevant criminal convictions could lead to the termination of this Agreement by MIUC. In the aforementioned circumstances you will not be entitled to a refund of your tuition fees. Once enrolled as a student, you must inform MIUC immediately of any criminal convictions received. Consideration of the conviction will be undertaken according to the Student Disciplinary Regulations or the Fitness to Practise Regulations, if you are enrolled in a course leading to professional registration. In the aforementioned circumstances, you will not be entitled to a refund of your tuition fees.

Disability Support. The University of Plymouth has a strong record of attracting and supporting students with a wide range of disabilities. Funding already exists through a range of channels for funding disabled students, however experience show that there are always some “who fall through the net”. Given the University’s commitment to disabled students a fund of £50,000 per year will be set aside to assist these students once they have enrolled. Funds will also be set aside to provide a new Mental Health Worker in the university’s Disability Assist Unit The university’s range of scholarships has been simplified, and now consists of: An amount of up to £350 towards each compulsory field trip on relevant courses – meaning in effect that most trips will be free of charge to the student. For students whose courses incur art and design studio costs or laboratory costs, these costs will be met on the student’s behalf.
