Device Use. Students should use the assigned device for educational purposes and district business only. Exclusively, the assigned student shall use the device. Furthermore, students are expected to bring their assigned device to class meetings with a full battery charge. In addition, the use of each device assigned to a student is subject to the acceptable use guidelines described in BOE Policy 2361 and BOE Policy 7523.

Device Use. All students are required to use a school issued device as provided for educational purposes. Students are not to sign into or use school accounts on personal devices unless granted prior approval through parental and administration consent. Similarly, students are not to sign into or use a personal account on a school issued device. It is required and federally mandated through the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) that each student be connected to the school network, including wireless (WiFi), while on school grounds. Therefore, students are not allowed to connect a school issued device through any other WiFi or other network, dedicated “HotSpot” devices, or mobile phone “Personal HotSpots” while on school grounds. Students must use their device in a respectable manner. Sound must be muted at all times unless permitted by the teacher or District staff member. Headphones are part of the school supply list and are not provided by the district. Headphones may be used at teacher discretion. Students will be encouraged to digitally publish and share their work with their teachers and peers when appropriate. If a student requires a document or assignment to be printed they can share that document with a teacher or other authorized faculty member. Student devices will not be set up for direct printing at school. Students may set up the Device to print at home. Device responsibility and expectations: Depending on grade level and/or teacher, students are responsible for the general care of the device they have been assigned at all times. ● Students are required to bring the device to school each day for use in each of their classes. Teachers will determine whether the device is the appropriate tool for learning during each class. ● Students are expected to bring a fully charged device to school every day. The District will not have chargers available for checkout. ● Students are expected to bring their devices to all classes unless specifically advised not to do so by their teacher. In the event a student forgets his/her Device, students should call home and have it brought to school. If it cannot be brought to school, a limited amount of devices may be available for students to borrow for the day from the Technology Office. Device Use. Louisville Public Schools has a zero tolerance policy on device violations. Games outside of the curriculum are not allowed (either app-based or web-based). The Louisville School District is not liable for and disclaims any liability arising from any injury or damage caused by or stemming from unauthorized access to the network or inappropriate use of authorized access to the network. A student and the student's parents or guardians, by submitting the User Application and Waiver Form with their respective signatures in order to gain access to the computer network, agree to release the School District from any liability for physical or emotional harm or damage resulting to the student that is caused by or related to the inappropriate use of the computer network.
