Design Specification. The design and specification of window type shall be UPVC framed and total window area must comply with current Building Regulations. The average U value for the units thermal transmittance must comply with Building Regulations 2010 Pt L and in any case not exceed 0.45 W/M2K with a total proportion of window and door area not exceeding 40%. This will be assumed to be achieved by the provision of windows with a maximum U value of 3.3 W/M2K. Adequate ventilation to the units is to be provided compliant with the Building Regulations Pt F Section 2 by windows with an openable area not less than 5% of the total floor area.
