Dependent Child. For sick leave purposes, a “dependent child” includes an employee’s: 1. Biological child, or 2. Adopted child (or child placed for adoption), or 3. Step child, or 4. Child who has been placed with the employee by an authorized placement agency or by a judgment, decree or other court order, or 5. Grandchild: a. Who has been adopted or placed for adoption with the employee, or b. Who has been placed with the employee by an authorized placement agency or by a judgment, decree or other court order, or c. Who is the dependent child of the employee’s unmarried dependent child and is dependent upon the employee for their principal support and maintenance. In all cases, the dependent child means an individual under eighteen (18) years of age or an individual under age twenty (20) who is still attending secondary school.
