Dead-Heading Clause Samples
The Dead-Heading clause defines the rules and compensation for time spent by transportation personnel, such as drivers or crew members, traveling without carrying cargo or passengers, typically to reposition vehicles or return to base. In practice, this clause specifies whether such non-revenue travel time is paid, how it is scheduled, and any limitations or requirements for reporting dead-heading activities. Its core function is to ensure fair treatment and compensation for employees during necessary but non-productive travel, while also clarifying employer obligations and reducing disputes over pay for these periods.
