DBH Clause Samples

The DBH (Diameter at Breast Height) clause defines how the diameter of a tree is measured for contractual or regulatory purposes, typically at a standard height of 1.3 meters (about 4.5 feet) above ground level. This clause specifies the exact method for measuring tree trunks, which is crucial in forestry contracts, timber sales, or land management agreements. By standardizing the measurement process, the DBH clause ensures consistency and fairness in determining tree size, which directly affects valuation, harvesting rights, and compliance with environmental regulations.
DBH. Division of Behavioral Health Community Based Services. For the purposes of this contract, the Division of Behavioral Health Community Based Services shall be referred to as DHHS.
DBH. Diameter at breast height; the diameter of a tree measured at a point 4-1/2 feet above the ground on the uphill side of the tree.
DBH. Unless otherwise specified, all tree measurements will be taken at Diameter Breast Height (DBH); the diameter of the stem measured 4 ½ feet above the ground.
DBH. ± 1 mm or 1%, whichever is greater, recorded to the nearest 1 mm Breast Height: ± 5 cm of true height, allowing for whorls, scars, swellings, etc. • The "height" of a tree is defined as the "length of the stem from ground level (uphill side) to the tip of the highest green terminal or branch". • Telescoping height poles may be used for measuring trees <6 m in height. • Trees >6m shall be measured using an electronic measuring device approved by the Contract Officer. When using an electronic measuring device, the painted dbh line shall NOT be assumed to be at 1.3 m. • Under no circumstances shall tree heights be measured with a clinometer. • Heights shall NOT be measured for trees with a lean >10 degrees. Maximum Measurement Error: ± 2 dm or 2% of true height, whichever is greater, recorded to the nearest 1 dm • "Height to live crown" is defined as the "length of the stem from ground level (uphill side) to the base of the live crown". • "Base of the live crown" is defined as the "lowest live branch that forms part of the uninterrupted live crown". NOT considered part of an "uninterrupted live crown": ✓ small individual live branches which are separated from the main crown by one or more dead whorls, ✓ forks originating below breast height, and epicormic branches. Maximum Measurement Error: ± 2 dm or 2% of true height to live crown, whichever is greater, recorded to the nearest 1 dm • "Crown radius" is defined as "the vertically projected maximum horizontal distance between the centre of the bole and the outer crown margin". • Crown radius shall be measured by two people, holding opposite ends of a measuring tape. • Four individual measurements of maximum crown radius shall be made in the four cardinal directions, and recorded Maximum Measurement Error: ± 2 dm or 2% of true crown radius, whichever is greater, recorded to the nearest 1 dm • Standard damage/condition and form codes shall be used to describe the condition and form of each tree. • Conditions not included in the Damage and Disease Codes shall be included in Remarks. • The Ministry shall provide a complete list of current codes. Maximum Measurement Error: ± 1, or 10% of the actual number of indicators checked, whichever is greater. • For trees taller than 130 cm, and on which a dbh band is not present, the location of breast height shall be determined by measuring from ground level (high side) to a height of 130 cm on the main stem using a marked pole or stick. • In cases where breast height coinc...
