Critical Element is a work assignment or responsibility of such importance that unacceptable performance on the element would result in a determination that the employee’s overall performance is Unacceptable. Critical elements shall be used to measure individual performance only. Critical Elements must be rated at one of the following levels: • Distinguished • Effective • Unacceptable
Critical Element. A component of a position consisting of one or more duties and responsibilities which contribute toward accomplishing organizational goals and objectives, and which is of such importance that unacceptable performance on the element would result in unacceptable performance in the position.
Critical Element. A component of an employee's job that is of sufficient importance that performance below the minimum standard established by Management requires remedial action and may be the basis for removing or reducing the grade level of that employee. Such action may be taken without regard to performance on other components of the job.
