COVERING SHIFTS. The Employer and the Union agree to a Letter of Understanding on the Articles which deal with how the Employer will assign overtime where it has an absent employee(s).
COVERING SHIFTS. When the Employer has a need to fill a vacant shift after the schedule has been posted, the Employer will contact Employees in the affected classification, by seniority, and offer them the opportunity to work the shift. It is understood that the Employer will skip Employees who would otherwise fall into an overtime situation by being assigned the additional shift.
COVERING SHIFTS. 16.01 When the Employer requires employees to cover a vacant shift which occurs less than forty eight (48) hours in advance, the Employer will invite employees to work in accordance with the following procedure:
1. Identify the classification of the absent employee.
2. Offer the shift to all part-time employees in the classification that will not incur overtime, by seniority.
3. Offer the shift to all employees in the classification, by seniority. While the Employer is attempting to cover the shift, Employees in the classification who are presently at work and who express interest will be invited to work overtime if required, by seniority. If the position cannot be filled within the classification, the Employer will offer a temporary transfer, by seniority, to other employees within the department who possess the skill and ability. It is agreed that the employee will receive the rate of pay according to the temporary position.
COVERING SHIFTS. Provided that patient care is not adversely affected, Bargaining Unit Employees may request to cover each other’s shifts with a minimum of one (1) days’ notice in writing along with approval of the Health Center Manager or their designee. This is not applicable to employees using sick time.
