Content of the ISLANDS Master Degree and Degree Awards. The Master Degree in Islands and Sustainability (ISLANDS) will be achieved over two years through the allocation of 120 European Credit Transfer System units (EC) by means of a Double Degree arrangement. Students will obtain one Master Degree from the Home University (University of Groningen) and one Master Degree from the island-based partner University, where the student undertakes the compulsory periods of mobility. Students study at the Home University in the first semester of the first year and in the first semester of the second year of the ISLANDS Master Degree, and will study at one island-based partner University in the second semester of the first year and the second semester of the second year. Additionally, on receipt of both diplomas, the University of Groningen will also issue a certificate stating that they have completed the double degree on the basis of having completed the two constituent single degree programmes (which will be named in this certificate).
