Construction Submittals Clause Samples

The Construction Submittals clause outlines the process by which a contractor must provide documents, samples, or other information to the project owner or architect for review and approval before certain construction activities proceed. Typically, this includes items such as shop drawings, product data, and material samples, which are submitted according to a specified schedule and must meet the project's requirements. The core function of this clause is to ensure that all materials and methods used in the project are reviewed and approved in advance, reducing the risk of errors, non-compliance, or costly rework during construction.

Construction Submittals. Another issue frequently faced is tracking submittals during construction. Not only tracking which submittals have been reviewed/received but also knowing what submittals are required for the project. ACTION: Our team currently uses an Excel-based tracking system that was developed in- house. This spreadsheet tracks when submittals are received, flags rejected submittals, and creates a submittal transmittal form with our submittal stamp with the click of a button. The city has seen an example of this transmittal form in previous projects working with Sunrise. This spreadsheet saves a great deal of time on projects with numerous submittals. As a part of this project, we will develop a submittal tracking system that will not only track submittal progress, as mentioned above but also provide a list of required submittals based on the bid items used for the project.
