Conjunctions. The word “or” is not intended to be exclusive and the word “includes” and its derivatives mean “includes, but is not limited to” and corresponding derivative expressions.
Conjunctions. (a) And. The word “and” can have two different connotations:
(i) the several “and”: A and B, jointly or severally
(ii) the joint “and”: A and B, jointly but not severally In this Contract, “and” should be interpreted in the joint sense, uniting things as a whole group, not in the several sense.
(b) Or. The word “or” can have two different connotations:
(i) the inclusive “or”: A or B, or both
(ii) the exclusive “or”: A or B, but not both In this Contract, “or” should be interpreted in the inclusive sense, not in the exclusive sense. If “or” is used in the exclusive sense, it is written as “either A or B” or other phrase indicating the exclusive connotation.
(c) The phrase “oil and gas” means “oil or gas”:
(i) means “oil or gas”, notwithstanding Article 2.10(a) and (b); and
(ii) includes PPT Oil and PPT Gas for purposes of Article 14 and Exhibits P, X, and Y .
