Common use of Compulsory Coverage Clause in Contracts

Compulsory Coverage. Paragraph 1 of Article 7, Articles 8 and 9, paragraph 1 of Article 10 and Article 12 shall apply only to compulsory coverage under the legislation of each Contracting State. Article 8 shall not apply to a person who is employed in the territory of Japan by an employer with a place of business in that territory or ordinarily works as a self-employed person in the territory of Japan, if that person is not covered under the Japanese legislation concerning the Japanese pension systems specified in paragraph 2 (a) (i) to (v) of Article 2.
