Class Size Determination. The district will use average growth rates when planning for class enrollments for the coming year. Hiring an additional teacher is preferable to other accommodations but the District has discretionary authority to hire or not hire after the adoption of the annual school budget at the August board meeting.
Class Size Determination. The class size determination shall be based on the student head count of the teacher’s core content classes as determined by the teacher’s student roster on two dates; one on October 1, and the second on March 1. The eligibility of teachers who teach more than one core content class (i.e. secondary teachers with multiple periods or teachers split between multiple school buildings) will be determined as follows: First, the class size numbers for each class shall be determined, and then an average will be calculated by dividing the total number of core students in the classes by the number of the classes Teachers teaching more than one class will be eligible for the stipend only if the average exceeds the class size thresholds currently in place at the District. The District shall not use teacher compensation under this MOU as a basis for assigning students to a particular class.
