Change Order Fee Clause Samples

A Change Order Fee clause establishes the conditions under which additional charges may be applied when modifications to the original scope of work are requested after a contract has been executed. Typically, this clause outlines the process for submitting and approving change orders, specifies how the fee is calculated—such as a flat rate or a percentage of the change—and clarifies which types of changes will trigger the fee. Its core practical function is to compensate the service provider or contractor for the administrative and operational costs associated with accommodating changes, thereby discouraging unnecessary alterations and ensuring that the project remains on schedule and within budget.
