Certification and Placement. Placement Placement on the salary scale shall be according to Qualifications Evaluations Council of Ontario based upon Programme If no rating is received from a teacher new to staff by the Director of Education or designate, by September or the date of commencement of employment, whichever is later, the teacher will be placed in Category without a degree and placed in Category "Al" with a B.A. or equivalent degree. A new teacher will have six (6) months from date of hire in which to obtain certification. Subject to the same time lines and the same conditions concerning proof of application for certification outlined in Article the teacher shall be entitled to receive retroactive pay to the commencement of employment. If a statement of evaluation is received by March or four (4) months from the date of commencement of employment, whichever is later, payment shall be retroactive to date of commencement. If the statement of evaluation not received by the above noted the teacher shall be paid according to that statement as of the date the Board receives the statement of evaluation. Experience Recognition On September of each year of a teacher's employment with the Board, the Board shall determine the years of teaching experience of the teacher for salary purposes. For the purpose of this determination, a full teaching year shall constitute ten months of full-time teaching. The Board shall recognize all partial years of experience for salary purposes according to the nearest year as follows:
(a) more than zero (O) full-time equivalent months to less than five (5) full- time equivalent months (or less than days) zero (O) year five (5) full-time equivalent months (97 days or greater) to ten full- time equivalent months inclusive one (1) year Such experience shall be cumulative and shall be awarded on September of each school year. No teacher to whom the previous application of experience recognition would have applied shall be adversely affected by a loss of salary through the implementationof this clause. Effective September all teaching experience in elementary or secondary schools shall be recognized up to the maximum paid by the Board according to the salary schedule.
