Common use of Carrier Changes Clause in Contracts

Carrier Changes. The city agrees to meet and confer with the association before any insurance carrier change is made. In the event the city shall change insurance carriers, the city shall continue to provide coverage that is equal to or better than current coverage unless the association agrees to a different level of benefits. If the city does not voluntarily change plans, rather the health insurance carrier or benefits administrators change terms of a plan, the city and Union agree to accept those changes or go to the next best available plan until such time as the association and the city can meet and renegotiate that portion of the contract. Any renegotiation would follow the provisions of ORS 243.698. The association acknowledged that insurance premium cost increases are a serious problem and agrees to participate in any study or cost containment program in an effort to reduce insurance costs.
