Benefit Time. Benefit time is caused by employees’ use of vacation, personal or earned time off. The City agrees to offer all benefit time hours to other employees in the same bargaining unit at the premium pay rate of one and one-half (1½) times his/her regular hourly rate of pay. Any benefit time offered but not taken by the full-time patrol unit employees shall be offered to members of the Sergeants bargaining unit. Bargaining unit employees who work to cover benefit time may not work more than forty-eight (48) hours per work week, with one double-back shift permitted, provided that the employee is off duty at least eight (8) hours between shifts. No employee may work more than sixty-four (64) hours of benefit time per year.
