Beards. Employees are permitted to have beards. Beards shall be neatly trimmed at all times and be of a consistent length throughout, not to exceed ¼ inch in length (number guard), above the surface of the skin. It must connect to an appropriately grown mustache and follow a defined cheek or jaw line. The neck must be clean-shaven. Shading must be commensurate with that individual’s natural color and shall be uniform in color with other facial hair. ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, designer beards, or “chin strap” beards, are strictly prohibited. The Chief(s)/designee reserve(s) the right to order officers to be clean-shaven based on safety protocols, events, and/or special assignment.
