Attendance Requirement. (a) Effective September 1, 2001 and thereafter, in cases of excessive absence, employees who require a medical certificate to cover each absence may be removed from their assignment and placed as unassigned floaters. These employees shall be used for replacement coverage for twelve (12) months. At the end of the twelve (12) month period, if the employee’s attendance improves so that the employee is absent no greater than twelve (12) days per school year for short term absence, the employee may post for the level of classification that the employee was removed from. Notwithstanding an employee’s posting rights, the employee may not post for the same school the employee was removed from. If the attendance has not improved, the employee will remain as an unassigned floater. If the employee has not improved their attendance after the second year as an unassigned floater, the Board will review the employee’s employment status having regard to any applicable statutory requirements.
