Common use of Application for PTO Clause in Contracts

Application for PTO. 19 19.9.1 Nurses are asked to make their requests for PTO of three (3) consecutive 20 work days or more (five [5] consecutive work days or more in those depart- 21 ments that work eight [8] hour shifts; four [4] consecutive work days or more 22 in those departments that work ten [10] hours shifts) in the designated 23 vacation book and on the appropriate request form. Requests for time 24 occurring from September through February need to be submitted no later 25 than July 1st. Requests for time occurring from March through August need 26 to be submitted no later than January 1st. In cases of duplicate requests for 27 the same time off that cannot be accommodated for staffing reasons, the 28 more senior nurse will have preference for the requested time over the 29 more junior nurse. A nurse who exercises a seniority preference for 30 scheduling such time off may not again exercise a seniority preference 31 during the next two (2) years. The Hospital shall respond in writing to PTO 32 requests within thirty (30) days of the closure of each open submission
