Alternative Subbing for Workforce Development a. When a Workforce Development teacher has a preplanned absence and a qualified substitute is not obtained, another Workforce Development teacher may provide an Alternative Lab experience, with Administration approval. b. There shall be no more than twenty-four (24) total students which include regularly assigned students plus Alternative Lab students except for emergency circumstances as determined between the administration and instructor. c. Instructors who will be monitoring additional students Alternative Lab experience may be contacted by the supervisor before the school day begins. Or, if the instructors have mutually made arrangements for a particular day of Alternative Lab subbing, the instructor that will be absent shall notify the supervisor of such arrangement which is subject to Administration approval. d. Alternative Lab subbing will be short-term, and is not intended to replace the hiring of a substitute teacher. Short-term is defined as three (3) days or less. e. Students will remain in the Alternative Lab for the entire lab period. f. For safety reasons, only students in comparable programs will be placed in Alternative Labs. g. The monitoring instructor(s) shall proportionately share an additional ninety dollars ($90) per lab for Alternative Lab coverage. h. Each Alternative Lab sub shall fill out the appropriate forms.
