Common use of Additional Withholding Clause in Contracts

Additional Withholding. Independently of monies retained by the Government under 52.232-5, or otherwise as permitted to be retained under this contract, the Government may withhold from payments due the Contractor any amounts as may be considered necessary to cover (a) Wages or other amounts due the Contractor's employees on this project; (b) Wages or other amounts due employees of subcontractors on this project; (c) Amounts due suppliers of materials or equipment for this project; and (d) Any other amounts for which the Contractor may be held liable under this contract, including but not limited to the actual or prospective costs of correction of defective work and prospective liquidated damage when the Contractor has failed to make adequate progress.
