Family and Domestic Violence Leave 46.1 For the purposes of this clause, “family and domestic violence” and “family member” are defined in the Award.

Subsidy During Family and Medical Leave For employees who are on family or medical leave, under the provisions of Article 46 of this MOU, Management shall continue the City's medical and dental plan subsidies for employees who are enrolled in a City health and/or dental plan prior to the beginning of said leave. Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness Leave a) Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness leaves granted to a permanent Teacher or long-term Occasional Teacher under this Article shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act, 2000, as amended.
Family Medical Leave Act Pursuant to the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, an employee who has been employed at least twelve (12) months and worked at least 1,250 hours during the prior 12-month period is entitled to twelve (12) work weeks of leave during any 12-month period without pay but with group health insurance coverage maintained for one or more of the following reasons:
Child Rearing Leave 7.9.1 A permanent employee, who is the natural or adoptive parent of a child, shall be entitled to an unpaid leave of absence for the purpose of rearing his/her child for a specified period immediately after convalescence from maternity or immediately after completion of appropriate adoption papers. Such leave shall be for a maximum period of nine (9) months and shall be granted upon giving the District at least four (4) weeks notice prior to the anticipated date on which the leave is to commence.

An Appointing Authority shall grant to a full time or part time employee who has completed his/her probationary period, or if there is no such probationary period, has been employed for at least three consecutive months, an unpaid leave of absence for up to twenty-six (26) weeks in conjunction with the birth, adoption or placement of a child as long as the leave concludes within twelve (12) months following the birth or placement. The ability to take leave ceases when a xxxxxx placement ceases unless the need for additional leave is directly connected to the previous placement.
