Common use of A Family Member Clause in Contracts

A Family Member. for the purposes of FML taken to care for a family member with a serious health condition is the Postdoctoral Scholar's parent, child, spouse, or domestic partner. Child means the Postdoctoral Scholar’s biological child, adopted child, xxxxxx child, stepchild, legal xxxx, or a child for whom the Postdoctoral Scholar stands in loco parentis, who is under 18 years of age or incapable of self-care because of a mental or physical disability. Parent includes the Postdoctoral Scholar’s biological parent, xxxxxx parent, adoptive parent, stepparent, legal guardian, or an individual who stood in loco parentis to the Postdoctoral Scholar when the Postdoctoral Scholar was a child. Spouse includes same or opposite sex spouse. Domestic partner includes same or opposite sex domestic partner.
