Due to a prolonged drop in copper prices, among other factors, the Zambia Privatization Act passed in 1993 and both Zambia Industrial and Mining Corporation (ZIMCO) and Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines (ZCCM) liquidated their assets and sold individual mines to private companies (1).
