Vouching definition

Vouching. . Vouching means a careful inspection of all original evidences supporting the transaction e.g. invoices, statements, receipts, etc., in order to ascertain the real accuracy, authenticity and validity of the transactions. It confirms that the amount specified in the voucher has been posted to an appropriate account which will disclose the nature of the transaction. Therefore, vouching is referred as the very essence of auditing. It helps an auditor in establishing the truth of entries appearing in the books of accounts.
Vouching means that a person whose name is not on the voters' list, but who is an eligible voter, can be vouched for by a person whose name is on the voters' list in the same polling division and thus can vote on plebiscite day. The Chief Plebiscite Officer, acting on recommendations from Returning Officers, decided that an eligible unlisted voter could be vouched for by a voter who was on the list in that plebiscite district rather than just the individual polling division.
