virtual net metering (VNM) definition
virtual net metering (VNM) means an energy crediting metering arrangement by which a distribution licensee allows eligible consumer with inadequate space in its premises to set up a rooftop solar system to generate solar energy. The energy which is generated at one point (premises) by a rooftop solar system, is used at another point (premises). This enable setting up of rooftop solar system externally and the net metering benefits (energy credits) are shared amongst participating consumers. In this case, the consumer receives credit on their electricity bill for any excess energy produced by the rooftop solar system installed at another location;
