Vacation Relief definition

Vacation Relief. Where vacation relief is required, the Employer shall give regular employees the opportunity to substitute and shall make every reasonable effort to arrange for staff replacement in the lowest-paying category.
Vacation Relief such positions will be posted as "vacation relief" and the successful employees will be union members paying union dues. The vacation relief positions will be available in the prime vacation periods beginning April 1st and ending Labour Day and the Christmas/New Years period.
Vacation Relief refers to a Vacation Relief Engineer, Vacation Relief Engineer Officer, Vacation Relief Chief Engineer and Vacation Relief Assistant Engineer, who are assigned to fill schedule vacation and/or scheduled compensatory time, extended leave, and other types of absences in an Engineer Officer’s position.

  • A person engaged as a Vacation Relief Employee will be informed of the nature of his/her employment at the time of his/her engagement.

  • Relief assignments shall be filled as they become available by the most senior qualified employee in the classification within the group on the Vacation Relief list requesting the reassignment, consistent with the terms of Article II.

  • The provisions of the National Staff Agreement and of this Supplement will be applicable to Vacation Relief Employees, except as indicated below: A Vacation Relief Employee will not be entitled to vacation.

  • Two of every three (3) vacancies shall be filled by promoting a qualified Oiler assigned to the same vessel and scheduled to be on duty, or if this is not possible by promoting a qualified Oiler, if any, in order of seniority on the Oiler Promotional Roster who accepts the temporary promotion or by either reassignment of a Vacation Relief Engineer or by dispatching an Engineer from the ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇.

  • No other form of travel pay/time is payable to Vacation Relief Oilers except as provided for in 10.01 above.

  • For a period of three (3) days or less: First by a qualified Oiler assigned to the same vessel and scheduled to be on duty, or if this is not possible, by reassignment of a Vacation Relief Engineer, or if this is not possible, by dispatching an Engineer from the ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇.

  • For a period of four (4) to seven (7) consecutive days: Every second (2nd) vacancy shall be filled by dispatching an Engineer from the ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ with the alternating vacancy filled by a qualified Oiler assigned to the same vessel and scheduled to be on duty, or if this is not possible, by reassignment of a Vacation Relief Engineer, or if this is not possible, by dispatching an Engineer from the ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇.

  • For a period of greater than three (3) months: By promoting a qualified Oiler, if any, in order of seniority on the Oilers’ promotional roster who accepts the temporary promotion or by an unassigned Vacation Relief Engineer, or if this is not possible, by reassignment of a Vacation Relief Engineer or by dispatching an Engineer from the ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇.

  • Employees designated as Vacation Relief Oilers shall be assigned a home terminal as close as possible to the employee’s residence.

  • Two (2) of every three (3) vacancies shall be filled by promoting a qualified Oiler assigned to the same vessel and scheduled to be on duty, or if this is not possible by promoting a qualified Oiler, if any, in order of seniority on the Oilers’ promotional roster who has accepted the temporary promotion or either by reassignment of a Vacation Relief Engineer or by dispatching an Engineer from the ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇.
